R3CCI to Launch Region 3 Junior Chamber of Commerce This September

We’ve reached a defining moment in Region Three. The Region Three (Essequibo Islands - West Demerara) Chamber of Commerce and Industry (R3CCI) will launch its Junior Chamber of Commerce in September 2025, building a structured pathway for youth to transition from ambition to action.

The announcement was made on July 30, 2025, at the Board of Industrial Training’s (BIT) Try-A-Skill Exhibition hosted at West Central Mall, a vibrant display of the talent, innovation, and potential that exists in our region.

And now, we're taking it a step further. If you're a young person or know someone ready to lead, sign up now at r3cci.org/junior-chamber.

The economic momentum in Region Three is undeniable. Infrastructure is rising. Jobs are expanding. Entrepreneurship is flourishing.

But we cannot build a future on economic growth alone. We must invest in people.

As I said during the exhibition, “Guyana is experiencing transformative growth, with unprecedented opportunities for every young person to elevate their quality of life.” This is not about helping youth catch up. It’s about placing them at the forefront.

What the Junior Chamber Will Do

This is a launchpad.

The Junior Chamber will be open to young people aged 16 to 30 across the Essequibo Islands–West Demerara region. It will include:

  • Structured mentorship by private sector leaders
  • Hands-on business training
  • Leadership development programs
  • Exposure to real commercial projects
  • Opportunities for civic participation

The program will complement the national TVET strategy and academic pathways by rooting business readiness in civic responsibility. The R3CCI is creating leaders who can thrive in boardrooms, council chambers, and factory floors alike.

The BIT Try-A-Skill Exhibition was the perfect place to announce this initiative. From commercial food preparation to electrical installation and joinery to heavy-duty equipment operation, visitors had the chance to experience skills in action.

It was also a reminder: the skills we foster today can ignite futures tomorrow. As BIT CEO Mr. Richard Maughn put it, “The impact of this event may not be fully known until five or six years from now, when someone looks back and says, ‘That’s where it all began.’”

The Try-A-Skill event also highlighted the region’s growing capacity. A new training centre in Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo, will soon open its doors, evidence of national support and regional commitment to skills development.

We recognize and thank the partners who made the exhibition a success:

  • The Ministry of Labour
  • Region Three Department of Education
  • BIT
  • Local administrators and community leaders

At R3CCI, we’re proud to stand with these partners. The Junior Chamber of Commerce is our next step forward. It reflects a belief we hold deeply: youth are not just our future, they are our present, and they are ready. Let’s help them rise. Learn more about the chamber by visit https://r3cci.org
